Tennis: GB call-up for Anastasia

Edinburgh tennis starlet Anastasia Mikheeva is to represent Britain at a major under-12 tournament in Auray, France, next month.

The event, an unofficial age-group world championship, will see leading tennis nations send their two best players.

Last month Anastasia, from Duddingston, won an international event in Paris but with no US or Australian entrants, while Russia sent their No 3 and No 4 ranked players.

In Auray standards will go up a level, but Anastasia can take confidence from a recent AEGON winter national tour win at Roehampton, beating Georgina Axon (Welwyn Garden City) 6-1 3-6 6-2 in the final.
