Tennis: East women top their Inter-County group

East OF SCOTLAND tennis women sit proudly atop Group Four of the Inter-County Championships after a second successive victory, by 6-3, against North Wales.

Spearheading the victory charge were Mhairi Brown and Emma Devine who won all three matches.

Similarly unbeaten were Sarah Mcfadyen and Liana Park as they also triumphed in straight sets every round.

East now face Cambridgeshire who are looking for their first win in this year's competition.

By contrast East men suffered a first defeat in Group Two after losing 3-6 to Lancashire.

East lost every round 1-2 although Alan Macdonald and Steve McGuckin did pick up two rubbers.
