Tennis: Devine to aid David Lloyd in Newlands Scottish Cup test

HOLDERS David Lloyd (Newhaven) include Scottish No.3 Emma Devine when they begin the defence of their Scottish women's tennis cup away to Newlands on Saturday, while the other Capital qualifers Waverley await Nairn after a 5-4 away win at Ayr and Prestwick.

Earlier this week David Lloyd (Newhaven), who will also be fielding Sarah Mcfadyen, Eilidh Smith, Camila Mochrie, Emilia Murray and Sonia Vickers, gave themselves the best possible boost by maintaining their unbeaten East League division one record with a 12-6 win over nearest challengers, Dunfermline.

With Thistle beaten at holders Giffnock last weekend any Edinburgh hopes in the men's cup now lie with Braid who face an awkward assignment at Newlands, last year's runners-up.

Braid retain the team which defeated St Serfs 6-0 in the previous tie - Gary Melville, Jimmy Wood, Euan Forbes, Johnny Short, Andy McKinlay and Wallace Wilson.
