Tennis: Devine lifts first British title

PORTOBELLO tennis prospect Emma Devine, 15, is set to go international tomorrow after collecting her first British title.

The newly-crowned Aegon Masters under-16 champion, who claimed that accolade by beating top seed Kyria Dunford 7-5, 6-2 in yesterday's final at Roehampton, is not sitting on any laurels. "I leave tomorrow for a week's training in Belgium and then two $10k womens' events in Turkey," Devine said. "(Then) I'll be in Malta for a world junior ranking event followed by another two in Nottingham."

Devine won in Roehampton without dropping a set in her four matches and is now building world junior ranking points.
