Tennis: Barnton LTC serve up a treat

New Waverley club senior champion Andy Melrose is seeded to meet the host club's Scott Duncan in the boys' under-18 final when the Barnton Park centenary tennis challenge takes place on Saturday and Sunday.

The event was originally staged last year on Barnton Park's 100th anniversary and proved so successful organisers decided to stage a repeat.

Entries have increased to 73 with competitors travelling from the north of England and all over Scotland.

In the girls' under-18 event, top seed is St Serf's senior champion Hannah Watson, who earlier this summer claimed under-16 titles at both the East Lothian and North of Scotland championships.

Competitions are also being staged at under-14 level.
