Teenage Scots get into Quadrangular swing

SCOTLAND'S teenage golfers are on course for a third Boys' Quadrangular title in five years heading into the closing round of matches at the Chiberta club in France today.

Stuart Wilson's side, who beat defending champions Sweden in their opening match, produced a battling singles rally to edge out France 5-4 and maintain their unbeaten record.

Trailing 2-1 after the morning foursomes, the Scots hit back in the afternoon with national boys' strokeplay champion Jack McDonald beating Victor Perez by two holes in the top singles tie.

Craigielaw's Grant Forrest, the Scottish under-16 champion, powered past Paul Barjon by a 5 and 4 margin while Scott Gibson and Calum Stewart both pitched in with wins to carry the Scots home. A victory today over Italy, who lost 7-2 to the Swedes, would clinch the title for Wilson's youngsters.
