Table tennis: Wheeler leads the way as Murrayfield 1 get closer to title

CHRISTOPHER WHEELER led the way by winning all three matches in straight sets as Murrayfield 1 took a major step towards retaining the Edinburgh & Lothians table tennis league title with an 8-2 win over main rivals North Merchiston,last night.

Wheeler, aged 13, was well supported by team-mates Blair Fowler and Catalan recruit Eric Caldero who each won two matches. Barring any shock results before the two giants next meet, a draw for Murrayfield at North Merchiston in March would secure them the title.
