Table Tennis: Champs head to Schools contest

Scottish schools table tennis champions Anna Liddle (St George’s) and Calum Morrison (Stewart’s/Melville) are strongly fancied to add to their laurels when the Edinburgh Schools Championships (under-12 and under-14) take place at Royal High tomorrow.

In the girls U-12 event Liddle will have competition from two of the youngest participants ever – seven-year-old Julia Diaz (Watson’s) and eight-year-old Faye Leggett (Roseburn).

Top seeds for the girls U-14s are Abby Wighton (Mauricewood) and Imogen Evans (St George’s).

Sam Goldsmith (Stewarts Melville) is likely to be one to watch in the U-12 boys although 10-year-old Dennis Diaz (Watson’s) may push him close.
