Swimming: Trinity's Doherty in 100m triumph

Trinity High's Ryan Doherty won the 100m freestyle for boys 16 and over at the South Lanarkshire Schools meet in Larkhall. The 17-year-old won in a time of 55.24. In the same event for girls Larkhall Academy's Louise McKee finished first in a time of 1:06.47.

Calderside Academy's Jonathan Stuart and Grant Sheldon finished one and two in the 400m freestyle for boys. Stuart won the race ahead of his fellow 16-year-old in 4:18.02. In the equivalent event for girls Danielle McGinnes from Holycross High held off school mate Lucy Ferguson.

The meet comprised 32 races in total and another notable achievement was 13-year-old Lorna Gemmell from Lanark Grammar going agonisingly close to breaking three minutes in the 200m breaststroke for girls 13 and under. She won in a time of 3:00.83.
