Swimming: Smith praise for Commie

Warrender’s Lewis Smith was full of praise for the newly renovated Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh after he claimed the 400m freestyle at the weekend’s East District Open Championships.

The 24-year-old won the title in a fast 3:59.08. In two weeks’ time he will be hoping to go even quicker at the ASA National Championships in Sheffield, the final trials for Team GB for next month’s Olympic Games in London.

Smith said: “Now that they have made the pool deeper it makes for much faster swimming and that is great. It was great to be back taking part in events in Edinburgh.”
