Swimming: Bronze for Hannah Miley

HANNAH Miley continued a successful World Short-Course Championships with another medal, her second of the meet, in the 200m individual medley.

The Inverurie swimmer could only manage a battling third place after winning Britain’s only gold medal so far when she held off China’s Olympic champion Ye Shiwen in the 400m individual medley. Ye was victorious over the shorter distance and 23-year-old Miley touched third in two minutes 7.12 seconds.

She said: “I’m so chuffed to come away with a medal there. That was probably going to be one of the hardest races here –
I thought maybe I’d be fourth at the best, maybe fifth or sixth.”

America’s Ryan Lochte set his second world record in 24 hours on Saturday, this time to win gold in the 100m individual medley.
