Super15: Sharks take a bite out of Lions

The Sharks scored two tries in each half for a bonus-point 32-20 win over South African rivals the Lions in week three of rugby’s Super 15 yesterday.

Full-back Riaan Viljoen, wing Lwazi Mvovo and subs Meyer Bosman and Jacques Botes touched down as the Sharks earned their first victory of the new season. Stand-off Patrick Lambie kicked 12 points.

Viljoen hacked a loose ball ahead to score in the 30th minute and Mvovo sneaked in on the stroke of half time to help the Sharks open a 20-6 advantage with 20 minutes to go. The Lions charged back with tries from Jaco Taute and Ruan Dreyer, but Bosman finished in the 71st minute after a weaving run from center JP Pietersen and Botes crashed over from a lineout drive right at the end to snatch the bonus point.
