Super 14: ACT Brumbies demolish Highlanders

BRUMBIES coach Andy Friend praised his side's performance in their 31-3 win over the Highlanders at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night which boosted their Super 14 semi-final hopes.

The ACT side claimed a bonus-point win and now need to beat seven-time champions Crusaders on Friday night to put them into the top four.

Fly-half Matt Toomua made a successful return from a knee injury, scoring the decisive fourth try in the 78th minute to secure the bonus point.

"Next week's game is a tough game but it's a tough competition," Friend said after the vital win.

"We kept everyone on the edge of their seat. We got the bonus point in the end which is what we wanted."
