Suny Bay dies aged 22

POPULAR grey chaser Suny Bay has died at the age of 22. The horse was trained by Charlie Brooks and owned by Andrew Cohen and won the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury in 1997 by 13 lengths under Graham Bradley. Suny Bay also twice finished second in the Grand National, including in the famous Monday race after the bomb scare in 1997.

The 12-year-old finished runner-up to Lord Gyllene at Aintree in the delayed 1997 running before again a finish gallant second to Earth Summit, carrying top weight of 12 stone, the following year.
