Students start to sweat after latest defeat

EDINBURGH University may be looking over their shoulders in rugby's National One after a loss to Langholm in a rearranged match left them third bottom.

The students went down 27-10 at Milntown and, although they should be safe sitting eight points above Berwick in 11th place, they will want to get another win soon to ensure their survival.

Elsewhere in National One, leaders Dalziel moved a step closer to the title with a 77-0 thumping of East Kilbride.

Preston Lodge remain in trouble in National Two, their 15-0 loss at Waysiders leaving them in the relegation zone.

In National Three, Forrester gained a crucial 23-15 derby win over Trinity Accies to leave the latter in the relegation zone. Ross High picked up a losing bonus point after an 11-10 loss away to Helensburgh.

Dunbar and Penicuik both suffered away losses in East One at Duns and Hawick Harlequins respectively. Leith beat Dalkeith 19-5 in East Two, but Liberton lost 92-0 at home to Gala YM.

Murrayfield Wanderers, RHC Cougar and Livingston were knocked out of the Scottish Hydro National Shield, but Linlithgow and Lasswade still have a chance to reach Murrayfield on 24 April.
