Students enjoy narrow win over Thistle

Thistle finished the first half well as Tait had to dive to save from Young before Wallace shot over from the right wing.

However it remained goalless at the break and University opened the scoring in the 48th minute with a strike that had a touch of fortune about. A long kick out from Tait bounced in the Lothian box and fell kindly for James Brownie to fire in.

Lothian went close soon after when Tait failed to deal with a cross and Black headed over the keeper but also the bar.

Thistle pressed for the equaliser in the last ten minutes as Stewart beat Tait to a cross in the air only for the ball to be blocked by a defender and be scrambled away. Dignan's volley then hit the post before Black's shot was cleared off the line and Walker shot narrowly over.
