Stroyan Cup glory in sight for girls

SCOTLAND and England both won their first-day matches in the Girls Home Internationals at Bangor Golf Club, Northern Ireland yesterday.

And they will meet tomorrow in what is the virtual decider for the Stroyan Cup, held by the English over the past two years.

The Scots played well to beat Wales 6-3, a team with which they could only draw with last year. England were impressive in beating Ireland 7-1. Karen Marshall's squad won the foursomes 2- and that makes a difference with only the six afternoon singles to come.

Mortonhall's Rachel Watton had an outstanding win for Scotland against Amy Boulden in the top singles.

In a rare Welsh success, Katie Bradbury got the better of the new Scottish girls' champion Lesley Atkins.
