Strictly star Alesha adds glamour to Hamilton

SINGER and former Strictly Come Dancing champion Alesha Dixon will add some glamour to the uniform theme at Hamilton Park's last evening meeting of the season tonight, Forces and Services Night.

But before she lets loose on Lanarkshire, there's the small matter of six races with Burnwynd Boy, locally trained in Strathaven by new Scottish trainer John McShane, top weight in the night's feature 11,000 freebets.co.uk Handicap Stakes at 7.35pm.

Dangers in that race include Eric Alsoton's in form King of Eden, course and distance winner Dickie Le Davoir from Richard Guest's yard and Richard Fahey's good sprinter Fishforcompliments.

The opener, the valuable 8,000 Building Craftsmen Nursery Handicap Stakes, may only have five declarations but looks to be hotly contested with winning two-year-olds in the line-up from Mick Channon's yard in Barista and from Richard Fahey's with Bahamian Sunset.

Dixon will perform live after support act Geo warms up the crowd following the last race at 8.05pm.

Forces and Services Night, one of Hamilton Park's Super Seven fixtures, was organised to pay tribute to local military and emergency services personnel with Alesha the feather in the cap of what promises to be a memorable night, which also features a display from the Golden Lions Parachute team.

Vivien Kyles, chief executive of Hamilton Park Racecourse, said "Everyone at Hamilton Park is really looking forward to a fantastic night on Friday.

"We've enjoyed an impressive line up of music acts this season and it's great for Hamilton Park to be able to bring international music and entertainment stars to the heart of Lanarkshire yet still be able to offer the live music, racing and more from as little as 13. On a more serious note it will provide a more than fitting finale to a night which has been set up especially to allow us all to pay tribute to the dedication and bravery shown by so many from the various forces and services locally and across the country."
