Stirling Albion net stadium sponsor deal

Stirling Albion last night boosted their finances after striking a stadium sponsorship deal worth over £50,000 to the First Division club.

Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro has secured a three-year contract with the Binos, with the potential to extend their partnership to up to ten years.

The deal sees the Hotel take on the club's sponsorship and culminate in the renaming of Stirling Albion's Forthbank ground as the Doubletree Dunblane Stadium.

Spokesman Paul Goodwin, whose commercial background is helping drive fresh investment for the club after the Stirling Albion Supporters Trust took ownership from Peter McKenzie last summer in a historic move, said: "It's good news for us. Dunblane Hydro are also looking for longevity and the potential to extend.

"They are looking to build a long-term relationship. If we are successful, the option is there to extend to ten years."

Meanwhile, Stirling Albion manager John O'Neill is hopeful of striking a deal for former Dundee midfielder Paul McHale before tomorrow's trip to Dunfermline.

The 29-year-old former Rangers youth - one of nine players released at Dens Park following administration - was training with the Binos last night.

O'Neill is keen to bring him on board and help build on a four-game undefeated run in the First Division.

He said: "Paul is a good player, I know all about him. Finances will dictate, but I'm hopeful we can do something."

Queen of the South manager Kenny Brannigan admits he is keen to snap up released Dundee striker Colin McMenamin.

The former Livingston marksman played as a trialist in the Doonhamers' loss to Falkirk at the weekend after his contract was ripped up as a result of the cash problems at Dens Park.

Brannigan has also offered training facilities to former Dundee captain Eric Paton after he fell victim to the financial woes at the Tayside outfit. Brannigan said: "If Colin does well in games, we will put the issue to the club to try and sign him."
