Stenhousemuir face Peterhead cup trip

The quarter-final draw of the Alba Challenge Cup kept the three remaining First Division sides apart, with Ross County travelling to Forfar, Partick Thistle hosting Ayr United and Queen of the South facing East Fife at Palmerston Park.

Stenhousemuir's reward for defeating holders Dundee 4-1 is an away trip to face a Peterhead side they defeated 3-1 last weekend on league business.

Stenhousemuir striker Alex Williams, who opened the scoring against Dundee, attended yesterday's draw. Williams, who has returned to Scotland following a spell in Irish football, said: "Beating Dundee was fantastic and I'm hoping I can find the net against Peterhead so that we'll hopefully have a semi-final to look forward to."

Queen of the South also saw off of the more fancied sides in the shape of Dunfermline, and the Palmerston Park front man Derek Holmes said: "Like a lot of clubs we are running with a smaller group of players this time out. We have a great sense of togetherness and that got us through a hard couple of hours at Dunfermline on Tuesday.

"East Fife have some good players, though, so we will need to play well to reach the last four."
