Star Witness heads cosmopolitan field for King's Stand

Next Tuesday's King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot will feature another extraordinary multi-national clash with well-backed Australian sprinter Star Witness featuring among 21 entries from all over the globe.

Money has been coming for Danny O'Brien's Star Witness this week, who has been no match for his outstanding compatriot Black Caviar, but Australian representatives have won the five-furlong dash four times since 2003. Holiday For Kitten and Bridgetown challenge from America, Overdose from Hungary, Mar Adentro from France and Sweet Sanette from Hong Kong, while War Artist has been entered by Frenchman Rod Collet but has been switched to a German stable.

Edward Lynam's Temple and Nunthorpe Stakes winner Sole Power is among the Irish confirmations along with Tracy Collins' Arctic and Aidan O'Brien representative Sing Softly. The home team is led by Kingsgate Native and Astrophysical Jet.

Meanwhile, Mickael Barzalona has picked up the plum spare on Delegator in next Saturday's Golden Jubilee Stakes. Barzalona recorded a cool victory on Pour Moi in Saturday's Investec Derby, but he has been increasingly called upon by Godolphin this season.

l Nicky Henderson is to face a British Horseracing Authority inquiry on 23 June after Heather Royal tested positive for a prohibited substance at Huntingdon in February. The disciplinary panel will consider whether Lambourn trainer Henderson breached Rule (C)53 of the Rules of Racing in respect of the finding of dexamethasone in the urine sample taken from Heather Royal, who finished unplaced in a mares' bumper on 10 February.
