SRU looking to reunite ex-players

THE current Scotland team could have the support of hundreds of their predecessors when they bid to score a first victory over New Zealand next month as Roy Laidlaw and John Rutherford host a reception for all living ex-internationalists before the autumn Test match.

The event, organised by the SRU, Rutherford and Laidlaw, is designed to restore the old rugby value of camaraderie that many believe has been lost in the modern game. Nearly 400 invitations have been sent out.

An SRU spokesman confirmed: "Over the years a number of ex-internationalists have remarked to us that they miss the opportunity to meet up at Murrayfield with their former colleagues.

"Recognising this, Scottish Rugby (the SRU] has invited all ex-internationalists and their partners to join us at Murrayfield on Saturday 13 November, in the company of their fellow Scottish internationalists, to enjoy what promises to be a fantastic occasion.

"Scottish Rugby has offered to provide all ex-internationalists who wish to attend the match with complimentary tickets for themselves and their partner. Hopefully, this will become an annual event."
