Squash: MacAulay squeezed out

EDINBURGH squash player Jamie MacAulay narrowly missed out on his first major title after losing the Metrosquash Open final in Chicago.

The Scot stunned the fourth and fifth seeds, Italy's Paul Mathieson and Denmark's Jonas Laursen, en route to the final, but top seed Lewis Walters was not ready to become MacAulay's third big-name scalp.

The Nottingham player, who eliminated Edinburgh's Lyall Paterson at the quarter-finals, edged a tight opening game before completing a 14-12, 11-4, 11-8 victory in 46 minutes.
