Football fans are prone to exaggeration but in the case of the new Hibs season ticket advert, the attempts by some supporters to register the level of their dismay are probably justified.

“Worse than losing 7-0 to Malmo”, “More embarrassing than fielding Rowan Vine” and, finally, the crème de la crème of insults, “I’d rather sit through the 2012 Scottish Cup final again”.

If you haven’t seen it yet, do try to catch it since it represents an interesting career move for Hollywood actor Dougray Scott, below, whose love for the Easter Road club clearly knows no bounds as he agrees to play the patsy in a skit starring, er, comedy double act the Malaprop Sisters.

Of course, the advert, just over two minutes long, has already done what it was designed to
do and got people talking.

Whether it translates into a hike in season ticket sales – with Hibs fans already having demonstrated their loyalty in commendable fashion with a large take-up – remains to be seen.
