Speedway: Ty’s three-day testimonial trek for Wethers will be fit for a Monarch

Wolverhampton ace Ty Proctor is so keen to ride in Matthew Wethers’ testimonial meeting that he is undertaking
a three-day trek to be at
Armadale on Friday, August 17.

Proctor, an old friend of Wethers said: “I’m looking forward to the meeting but I’m not looking forward to the trip down to Eastbourne the next day, and I’ve also got a meeting the night before!

“I’ve known Matthew and his family for a long time. I’m from Melbourne and Matthew’s dad and brother Ben were a great help to me in my early days.

“I got to know Matthew
really well when he doubled up with Wolverhampton, as he used to work on his bikes at our house.”

Proctor added that Wethers is a perfect role model for youngsters. “I have a lot of respect for Matthew, not a lot of riders stay at one club for ten years and I think a lot of youngsters should look at Matthew and what he has achieved because that’s the way to be,” he said,

“If Matthew had been
rubbish he certainly would not have been with Edinburgh for so long, that’s for sure.”

Meanwhile, teammate Craig Cook geared up for his British Final appearance at Wolverhampton this Monday with a splendid 13-point score for Belle Vue Aces against Poole Pirates in the Elite League.
