Spartans beat valiant Vale

Spartans emerged 2-0 winners against a competitive and well-organised Vale of Leithen team in last night's Central Taxis Premier Division encounter.

Vale, under new manager Robbie Horn for the first time, made Spartans work extremely hard before they secured all three points.

Vale's Scott Moffat had two early chances as did Gavin Tainsh while Spartans' best effort was an Omar Kader header which hit the outside of the post. However, Donal Henretty broke the deadlock four minutes before half-time when he fired home a loose ball from 12 yards.

Spartans added a second goal late in the game when a Jack Beesley shot was palmed away by Darren Walker only as far as Kader, who crossed low for Gavin Malin to net from close range.
