Fernando Llorente powered home two headers and David Silva added a superb third to give world and European champions Spain a 3-1 win over Lithuania in Scotland's Euro 2012 qualification group.

The home side dominated against an ultra-defensive Lithuania in the Group I match but could not find a goal until two minutes after the break when Llorente, playing in place of the injured Fernando Torres, nodded in a Sergio Ramos cross. The visitors hit back through Darvydas Sernas before Santi Cazorla provided the cross for Llorente to put Spain back in front.

The lively Silva made it 3-1 in the 79th with another header, sending a Ramos centre whistling into the top corner from the middle of the penalty area.

Ramos and striker David Villa, who now needs one goal to equal Raul's Spain scoring record of 44, had both hit the post in the first half.

The Victory put Spain top of Group I with six points from two matches.

The game at the Helmantico stadium in Spain coach Vicente del Bosque's home town of Salamanca was marred by clashes between a handful of Lithuania supporters and local police at the start of the second half. Officers used batons to subdue some of the visiting fans and the trouble quickly subsided.

TWO goals from Nani and one by Cristiano Ronaldo earned Portugal a 3-1 win over Denmark in Group H to give new coach Paulo Bento a winning start.

Ronaldo broke down the left and crossed for Nani to fire in a low drive on 29 minutes. Christian Poulsen then received the ball from the kick-off but underhit his pass and Nani sprinted towards the area to score his second.

Denmark pulled a goal back as Ricardo Carvalho deflected a corner into his own net on 79 minutes but Ronaldo calmed Portuguese nerves by firing home with five minutes to go.
