Sodje hails Hibs move as best ever

Hibs hitman Akpo Sodje has billed his move to Easter Road as one of the best decisions of his football life.

The Capital side is Sodje's 14th club of a decade-long senior career and at 31 the English striker is enjoying his best ever form, scoring a goal in each of his last three outings.

In total, the new fans' favourite now boasts an impressive goals-to-games ratio, having hit five goals in ten starts.

"I've not had such form for a long time and scoring goals now is as exciting as before," says Sodje. "I hope they keep on coming and I keep getting chances. Every club I've been at, I have scored goals but I get used as a target man, which I don't mind doing.

"If I'm told to do a job, I'll do a job and when the chances come I've got to take them. It's been good for me."

Colin Calderwood signed the 6ft 2ins frontman to bolster a forward line that failed to find form this season, with last summer's departure of Anthony Stokes to Celtic hitting Hibs hard.

Derek Riordan sits on ten goals for the season but has only hit the net twice since December. Colin Nish has just one goal to his name, while Darryl Duffy and Valdas Trakys have struggled to make an impact and recent signing Ricardo Vaz Te is desperate to get back to his best.

Sodje is only too happy to fill the void of prolific goalscorer and is determined to repay Hibs for a contract that runs until summer 2012.

"It's the best decision I've made for my career for a long time. I'm happy to be here playing games week-in, week-out. It's been good and I've enjoyed every minute. As long as I get picked I will keep working hard."
