Snow Fairy in Midday duel

MIDDAY and Snow Fairy will go head to head as joint 12-8 favourites in the Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood today after Misty For Me, who defeated Midday in the Pretty Polly Stakes last time, was declared a non-runner.

Now a five-year-old, Midday holds sway over the Ed Dunlop-trained Snow Fairy so far with Sir Henry Cecil's charge finishing three lengths to the good when the pair clashed in last year's Yorkshire Oaks.

Cecil also runs Principal Role, in the same Abdullah ownership, who will be ridden by Richard Hughes, with Midday partnered by Tom Queally.

Snow Fairy with Ryan Moore on board was one of the success stories of last season, making giant strides to win the English and Irish Oaks before travelling to the Far East to claim the QEII Cup in Japan and the Hong Kong Cup. Today, Frankie Dettori will be in the saddle.
