Snooker: Promising McGill whitewashes Hendry

SCOTS kid Anthony McGill yesterday whitewashed seven-times world champion Stephen Hendry 4-0 in the Star Xing Pai Players Tour Championship,

The 19-year-old, who has only been a professional for the past two months, hailed the victory in Sheffield as the "biggest of my career". He added: "I thought I had a chance of beating Stephen but never thought for a moment I would win 4-0.

McGill rounded off his impressive morning's work in style taking the final frame with a break of 85.

McGill followed up his brilliant Hendry victory with a 4-1 win over Alex Davies to secure a last 32 meeting against Judd Trump.
