Snooker: Muir bids for sweet 16 title

RISING Lothian snooker star Ross Muir has a chance to become Scottish under-16 champion at the age of just 14 when he takes on 16-year-old Scott Donaldson of Perth in the final at the Q club in Glasgow tomorrow.

The two finalists will battle it out over seven frames in the event, which is sponsored by Penicuik businessman John McGovern, owner of JMConservatories.co.uk.

His UPVC windows, doors and conservatory firm has put 500 into this season's under 16 series, which also climaxes tomorrow, meaning that Muir and Donaldson are also playing to see who finishes the season as Scotland's No.1 ranked player in their age group.
