Snooker: Leslie out of luck in Canada

Michael LESLIE'S run of victories at this year's World Under-21 Snooker Championships came to an end when he lost out 5-2 to Thailand's Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon of Thailand at the last-16 stage.

Leslie reached the mid-session interval in Montreal all square at 2-2 with Thirapongpaiboon. However, the Thai went on to win the next three frames and book his place in the quarter-finals where he will now play England's Declan Brennan.

Fellow Thai Akani Songsernsawad, who Leslie defeated in the earlier qualifying group, beat England's Callum Downing, and will now play Li Hang of China. Nick Jennings (England) plays Anda Zhang (China) and Noppon Saengkham (Thailand) faces Duane Jones (Wales) in the other quarter-final ties.
