Snooker: Leslie heads Scots success

Scotland enjoyed another great day at European Snooker Championships in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia yesterday, with three players securing a place in the last 16 stage.

Bonnyrigg 18-year-old Michael Leslie recovered from losing the opening frame of his last-32 match against Ukrainian Sergiy Isayenko to win the next three frames. Isayenko, however, looked like he would pull one back in he next when he opened with a 54 break, but Leslie fought his way back to steal the frame on a re-spotted black and earn a place in the last 16, where he will meet England's Adam Duffy.

Perth's Scott Donaldson, 17, enjoyed an 4-1 victory over Ireland's Martin McCrudden and now plays German Patrick Einsle, whilst Bobby Cruickshanks, 31, also from Perth, had a 4-2 victory over Dutchman Rene Van Rijnsbergen and now plays Poland's Michael Zielinski. Paul Jamieson of Dumfries plays Belgian Rene Hemelsoet in the last 16 of the Masters event.
