Snooker: Leslie cruises into final 32

Bonnyrigg's Michael Leslie ensured that he would finish top of his group, with a 100 per cent record, as he qualified in fine style for the last 32 stage of the European Snooker Championships being held in Sofia in Bulgaria, finishing off with a 4-1 defeat of Andrei Orzan (Romania).

Leslie, 18, started slowly losing the first frame, but he won the next three frames comfortably to open up a 3-1 lead. Leslie saved his best till last, making a magnificent 125 break in the final frame to win the match and guarantee position as one of the top seeds going into the last-32 stage today.

The group stages were due to finish this morning with Perth's Bobby Cruikshanks having to defeat the experienced Lasse Munsterman(Germany) to win his group. Scott Donaldson, also of Perth, lost out 4-2 to Ireland's Robert Murphy, however is still safely thrugh with one game remaining today. And Paul Jamieson of Dumfries is through to the last 16 of the Masters event after winning his group.
