Snooker: Johnstone survives scare

Edinburgh's Stuart Johnstone survived a nail-biting black-ball finish against Perth's Scott Donaldson to secure his place in the semi-final of the East of Scotland Snooker Championship last night at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Johnstone led 3-1 but was pegged back by 17-year-old Donaldson at 3-3, forcing a decider. In the final frame, Donaldson opened up a lead of 40 points, but Johnstone potted the three remaining reds and the colours down to the pink before missing the black. However, he was not do be denied and now faces Alloa's Eden Sharav.

Another Edinburgh semi-finalist is guaranteed tonight when last year's runner-up Robert Carlisle, 19, from Granton plays former champion Ross Vallance, 22, from Corstorphine at 7.00pm.
