Snooker: Deal is right on cue for kid

BONNYRIGG snooker star Michael Leslie has taken the next step in his fledgling career by signing with a management agency, writes MICHAEL GALLACHER.

The 17-year-old has teamed up with a firm more used to representing players of another sport and will be represented by TheFootballAgents.com, run by Fred Perring and Alan Porter.

They will advise the youngster on all off-table activities such as finance, marketing and sponsorship.

Michael finished second in the Scottish Under-21 rankings last season behind 19-year-old Glaswegian Anthony McGill, who has now turned professional.

Perring said: "We are honoured and privileged that such an exciting young snooker prospect has agreed to join our organisation.

"We are sure that, with the dedication and discipline that he has displayed, and achievements to date, he is destined to reach the top and follow in the footsteps of Stephen Hendry, John Higgins and Graeme Dott.

"We are well placed to ensure that by removing the burden of looking after outside interests, Michael will be able to concentrate on his snooker without unnecessary distraction."

Michael said: "I am really excited by the new partnership with Alan and Fred and I cannot wait for things to get underway. I am sure I will benefit from their experience and the sporting contacts they have."
