Smith makes it a medals full house for Scots

ROWING: Britain’s mixed adaptive four, with Dunfermline’s David Smith aboard, took gold on the last day of the World Rowing Championships in Bled, Slovenia – meaning that all five Scottish athletes in the British team will travel home with medals.

With a remarkable haul of 14 medals, Britain emerged as the strongest nation of the championships.

Smith and his crew-mates Pamela Relph, Naomi Riches, James Roe and cox Lily Van Den Broecke led from the start and, along with defending champions Canada, quickly moved clear of the field. The British crew stretched their lead to win by over four seconds, with Germany taking bronze.
