Simpson seeks solace in Camanachd Cup charge

SHINTY: Fort William's Bryan Simpson has targeted the Camanachd Cup as compensation for the pain of losing to rivals Kilmallie in the MacTavish competition.

The holders face Oban in today's quarter-final and, for the An Aird marksman, it is another step closer to avenging their MacTavish exit.

Simpson sat out the MacTavish semi with bitter rivals Kilmallie as he couldn't swap his shift at the local aluminium factory.

When he learned of the score during his tea break, he had to look twice at his PC screen as the lower league side humbled Fort 4-3.

Now Fort have the chance to book their place in the last four of the sport's major prize and Simpson doesn't want to miss any more medal opportunities.

"We have played well recently and retaining the Camanachd Cup is one of the season goals. If we play the way we can, we can certainly compete with Oban. Hopefully we can make it into the semi-final," he said.
