Shinty: Ronald Ross still plagued by ankle problem

Ronald Ross has admitted his long-standing ankle problem could curtail his season further despite hitting five goals in two matches.

The Kingussie legend may make today’s MacTavish Cup quarter-final clash with Kilmallie but is not taking a starting slot for granted.

Ross, 38, missed the opening month of the season and continues to wrestle with an ankle injury sustained over a year ago whilst captaining Scotland.

He missed last weekend’s clash with Bute and admits he has to assess his fitness on a match-per-match basis.

“It is a case of assessing things after every match,” said the first Scot in any sport to score 1,000 goals.

“When the club really need me, I’ll do my best to play but it is just a case of seeing week to week how the ankle is.”
