Shinty: Norman MacArthur calls on Newtonmore to win every game

Newtonmore manager Norman MacArthur has set his Premier Division shinty champions a simple target to breathe new life into their campaign - win every game until October.

The Eilan outfit started the campaign as title favourites but have stuttered, finally regaining their peak form last week by thrashing Fort William 8-1.

Today they face Kilmallie for a place in the Artemis Macaulay Cup semi-final and they remain in the hunt for the Camanachd Cup and the league.

However, MacArthur knows they will have to go on a run if they are to stop the Kyles juggernaut in the championship race.

And he has called on his men to win every match between now and the end of the season and to build on last week's thumping of Fort William.

"Last week was a fantastic result but it was only a matter of time before someone suffered," he said.

"I believe Kyles will slip up somewhere down the line and our job is to win all of our games, really. We asked the same of them at one stage last year and they managed it.

"At the start of the season, we probably targeted the Camanachd Cup the most but I'd love to win the league again.

"We need to keep the confidence up now and maintain winning ways although today's tie will be very difficult for us."

In the other quarter-final today, Kingussie face Lovat at the Dell.
