Shinty: Glasgow facing a tough task to stick in top flight

Glasgow could wave goodbye to Premier League shinty today if high-flying Kingussie maintain the form that has already seen them win the Macaulay Cup with a 4-3 victory over Inveraray.

Glasgow Mid Argyll entered the top division this season in a flurry of excitement, becoming the only urban club to play amongst the elite.

However, if the Peterson Park outfit take nothing today from a difficult trip to Speyside to face Kingussie and Bute draw, their stay is over.

George Hay's men have only picked up two victories in a season which was always about gaining valuable experience for their promising youngsters.

Ominously, Kingussie are in no mood to take their foot off the gas, with the league still in their sights and the Camanachd Cup final fast approaching.

"Glasgow will come here looking for a point, at least but we just have to keep up the winning form," said Kingussie boss Stephen Borthwick.

"I think a few people's minds are on the Camanachd Cup final but we need to get that out of our thoughts and focus 100 per cent on this game."

Kingussie will welcome back Louis Munro after three months on the sidelines.

In the other relegation four-pointer, Bute can also push Oban towards the exit if they win in Rothesay but an Oban victory gives them a chance of survival.
