Shinty: Clash with Kingussie has MacKintosh excited

NEWTONMORE manager PJ MacKintosh is relishing the prospect of his first all-Badenoch showdown this week after his men went on the rampage on Saturday.

The reigning champions enjoyed the perfect warm-up for the first clash of the 2013 season against neighbours Kingussie, hammering Kinlochshiel 8-1.

All thoughts will now turn to this week’s vital Co-operative MacTavish Cup clash, with Kingussie also going into the fixture on the back of a victory.

MacKintosh said: “I am really looking forward to it. This is what it is all about. The games against Kingussie are our biggest matches. They are passionate and competitive and I am sure there will be goals.

“Both teams will be going for it and we need to try to stay in the MacTavish Cup as long as possible.”

The champions were certainly in mean mood on Saturday with Fraser MacIntosh scoring three goals and Glen MacIntosh four after Chris Sellar’s opener.
