Shining stars of another vintage season for Lothians boys' football

Through our team of reporters, we have tracked the progress of young players from under-13 to under-19 level at matches stretching the breadth of the country, from Drumchapel in Glasgow to Dunbar in East Lothian.

Now that all 75 trophies have been won, each club's player of the year awards handed out, and the dust settled on another successful campaign, we present the line-ups of just some ofr the players who have caught the eye of our reporters over the course of the season.

UNDER-13 TO UNDER-14 TEAM OF THE YEAR

Jack MORTON (Spartans Reds under-13): Produced the goalkeeping display of the season during a Lothian Buses Cup final loss to Tynecastle, pulling off countless top-drawer saves.

Colin PARROTT (Edina Hibs under-13): Steady and seldom caught out at full back, "Coco" was certainly no clown as he shone against Tynecastle's potent attack in the Ken Ritchie showpiece.

Blair KINGHORN (Tynecastle under-13): Imperious centre back who led Tynie to four trophies with his dominance of opposing attacks.

William McPHEE (Edina Hibs under-14): Top dog amid stiff competition for places in Edina's backline, justified his selection with consistent solid displays.

Neil MARTYNIUK (Tynecastle under-14): Showed superb control, movement and awareness as he carried out defensive and attacking duties with aplomb for four-times cup winners Tynie.

Jed DAVIE (Edina Hibs under-14): Captained Edina to success on three fronts, leading the team with exemplary attitude and skill from the heart of midfield.

Cameron YOUNG (Tynecastle under-14): A constructive force, breaking up opposition attacks and willing team-mates forward. Scored a last minute Scottish Cup winner to cap a superb season.

Dylan CLARK (Edina Hibs under-14): An entertainer with no little flair. Has skill, speed and shooting ability to unlock any defence on his day.

Euan GOODALL (Beeslack Thistle under-14): Influential as part of the Penicuik side's treble-winners, adept at creating chances after some trickery on the wing and at scoring in and around the box.

Kieran SPIERS (Spartans Colts under-14): Prolific striker who helped fire his side to three trophies and who caught the eye with some incisive and clinical attacking play.

Kyle MITCHELL (Tynecastle under-13): Diminutive frontman who was impressive alongside fellow attacking threats Sam Daniel and Kyzer Summers in a quadruple-winning Tynie side.

Substitutes:

Gregor LOCKHART (Tynecastle under-14): Resolute in defence and a valuable attacking threat for Tynie.

Scott TAYLOR-MACKENZIE (Edina Hibs under-14): Creative and rarely loses possession driving forward via the wing.

Jack RODEN (Lochend under-14): Lively and forceful forward at his best running at defences.

Kieran THRALL (Hutchison Vale 96 under-14): Alongside Fraser Eddington, one of the standouts for the Scottish Cup semi-finalists.

Azad OKAN (Edina Hibs under-14): Uncanny sense of positioning allows him to snap up goals galore.

UNDER-15 TO UNDER-19 TEAM OF THE YEAR

Matthew BANKS (Leith Athletic under-19): Won seven trophies and gained regional and national honours on a personal level as he proved undisputed No.1 among Capital keepers.

Brad McKAY (Edinburgh City under-17): Classy and dominant alongside Travis in the heart of defence for all-conquering City. Good in the air and has the clichd "great feet for a big man".

Bradley CRANE (Bonnyrigg Rose under-16): A calm, reassuring presence who makes up for relative lack of height with a good leap and cool defending under pressure.

Michael TRAVIS (Edinburgh City under-17): Vocal leader who talks his team mates through the game and displays the ideal balance of aggression and level-headedness.

Callum PATERSON (Tynecastle under-16): Penetrates the flank with guile and verve and won a move to Rangers after a sterling season in a top Tynie side.

David STEWART (Spartans Reds under-19): Unfussy and neat central midfield playmaker, rarely guilty of a mistake, breaks up play and coaxes his side forward.

Nicholas LOCKE (Edinburgh City under-17): A prolific goalscorer and a standout performer in the "pressure" games. Showed nimble footwork and positional sense to unnerve the best of defences.

Jamie BURSTOW (Leith Athletic under-19): Reliable as a defender and potent in attack, can supply pinpoint distribution from the left while chipping in with the odd wicked free-kick from range.

Jack COMBE (Leith Athletic under-19): One half of the long-running Leith goal machine, consistently finds space to score where there's seemingly none to be found.

Ryan McCONVILLE (Musselburgh Windsor under-15): Windsor's most potent attacking threat shone on the domestic scene as well as earning plaudits at an international tournament in Spain at Easter.

Darren LAVERY (Leith Athletic under-19): Combines with Combe to great effect in the Leith attack. The pair's clinical finishing means a two-goal "head-start" in almost every game.

Substitutes:

Jason COYLE (Leith Athletic under-15): Influential midfielder who drove his team forward during trophy-laden campaign.

Jordan FINNIE (Edinburgh South under-17): Always a standout in the middle, regardless of the opposition.

Daniel O'ROURKE (Seton under-16): Energetic and skilful attacking midfielder continually sought-after by senior clubs.

Jason STEVENS (Leith Athletic under-19): Tireless in attack via the right flank, supplier of numerous goals and assists.

William BREMNER (Leith Athletic under-19): Strong and effective in natural midfield role or as a makeshift striker.
