Shemilt and Stewart shine for Glasgow in finals

TENNIS: The High School of Glasgow’s Under-13 tennis team – James Shemilt, Hamish Stewart, Euan Gibson-Smith and Ross Paterson – finished fourth at the UK national finals of the AEGON Team Tennis Schools at the Bolton Arena. The Scottish side opened the campaign against eventual champions Millfield Preparatory School.

The South West of England regional winners whitewashed the Scots 12-0 and Reed’s School were the next opponents. The Glasgow lads put in a strong performance only to lose 8-4. Shemilt won his singles tie as well as the doubles with Stewart.

Warwick School were the opposition in the final round and won 8-4.

Shemilt again claimed his singles match and the doubles with Stewart.
