SFL: Bryan Deasley the hero as Forfar come back to win at Dumbarton

Substitute Bryan Deasley was the hero for Forfar as they won 2-1 at basement side Dumbarton.

The home side had survived a triple threat in 25 minutes when a Martyn Fotheringham header was cleared off the line before Chris Templeman volleyed the rebound against the post, and sent his second attempt wide.

Dumbarton went ahead seconds later, Pat Walker easily converting Derek Carcary's low cross. Templeman headed against the bar before the interval but Fotheringham eventually equalised on 71 minutes when he lashed home a loose ball. Within 60 seconds, Deasley had won the game for the Loons, beating the offside trap and firing past Stephen Grindlay.

Arbroath missed the chance to go top of the third division as they lost 5-3 to East Stirlingshire at Gayfield.

The home side took the lead on 23 minutes when Kieran McAnespie headed past Michael Andrews, but East Stirling turned the game around with Scott Johnston equalising on 28 minutes and David Dunn netting a left foot drive 10 minutes later.

The Red Lichties levelled before the interval through Alan Rattray but the Shire only needed 41 seconds of the second half to net from a Stephen Maguire goal. Dunn scored his second with a deflected drive on 64 minutes.

Arbroath were soon awarded two penalties and Steven Doris netted the first kick but put the second wide. East Stirling secured the victory when youngster Stuart Beveridge hit a sweet shot from 25 yards past Hill.

Albion Rovers and Annan Athletic battled out a goalless draw at Cliftonhill. Annan were the better side in the first half but met home goalkeeper Derek Gaston in top form.
