Sevens ace Skeen sure of Scots' beef

Ever-present Andrew Skeen believes Scotland can cause a global upset in this weekend's London rugby sevens - and give themselves a massive boost for the Murrayfield event a week later.

The Scots are drawn in a pool with reigning grand prix champions Samoa as well as Australia and Canada.

Skeen, from Watsonians, says: "We've played Samoa once this year and the only difference was we couldn't win our kick-offs. Rectify that and we can compete.

"As for Australia, the first time we met them we lost 40-14 but the next time was much closer before we progressed to the stage we should have beaten them."

Skeen has only played on Murrayfield once previously in an under-18 cup final and is determined the clinch another opportunity.

"We have been told selection for Edinburgh is performance-based on London's tournament so it is a challenge to make sure I'm part of things here.

"My only previous outing on Murrayfield was for Berwick in an under-18 cup final against Stirling."
