Seven up for Thistle

LOTHIAN Thistle demonstrated their desire to win their first-ever Central Taxis Premier Division title when they travelled to Coldstream and returned to the capital with a 7-1 victory. Wayne McIntosh notched a hat-trick and there were doubles for Jordan Hall and Gary Black.

However, Lothian remain in second place, five points behind leaders Spartans who scored two late goals to beat Selkirk 3-1. Alex King gave Spartans the lead before Grant Cass equalised from the penalty spot. But a Steven Sharkey own goal and a stoppage-time strike from Donal Henretty earned Spartans all three points.

Craigroyston moved into pole position in the First Division with a 5-1 win against Ormiston.

Stirling University and Vale of Leithen, two of the other contenders for promotion, shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Lee Nichol put the students ahead before Darren Gillon equalised. Craig McLeish again put Stirling ahead then Aaron Somerville earned Vale a valuable point.

Chris Anderson scored the only goal to give Gala Fairydean a 1-0 win over Easthouses Lily, while Leith Athletic beat Peebles 8-2 and Gretna 2008 were held 1-1 by Kelso United.
