Selkirk pay penalty as Welfare triumph

WELFARE continued their rise up the table with an impressive demolition of Selkirk. But the Rosewell side were aided by two penalties and a sending-off in an explosive opening half hour.

Jason Inglis picked up his first yellow after 15 minutes when he chopped the legs away from Scott Gormley inside the area. Gormley tucked away the spot kick. On 26 minutes Inglis saw red after blocking a goal-bound David Beattie shot with his arm. Gormley dispatched the second penalty to give the visitors a commanding lead.

Des Sutherland did force Bejaoui into a finger-tip save on 50 minutes, but Beattie volleyed home a third on 62 minutes from a tight angle at the back post. And just a couple of minutes later Ross Allum finished off a sweeping Whitehill move with a great shot into the top corner.
