Selkirk 49 - 3 Stewart's-Melville FP: Barrie engineers survival

IF, AS strong rumours suggest, Kevin Barrie decides to stand down from his post then the Selkirk coach can look back with satisfaction on his tenure, not least after Saturday's emphatic home win over Stewart's-Melville FP that erased relegation fears.

"The players have worked hard and dug themselves out of a hole. We had injury problems and that probably accounted for our difficulties early on," said Barrie.

First-half tries by Fraser Harkness and Simon Willet and two penalties goals and a conversion by David Cassidy gave Selkirk a comfortable 18-3 at the interval, and a four-try burst in just 13 second-half minutes made sure of the points.
