Selkirk 12 - 34 Boroughmuir: Muir show clinical touch in despatching plucky Selkirk

A POWERFUL pack and clinical finishing were the major differences as Boroughmuir set out their stall - even although they had to play 10 minutes without the yellow-carded Ally Warnock.

The arrival of Warnock, Sean Crombie and Ali Davidson has strengthened the side, and although Selkirk battled hard, two tries in a second-half five-minute spell wrapped up a convincing win.

Selkirk targeted home wins under new coaches, Graham Marshall and Rodney Pow, but against big, powerful city sides, it is going to be a long season on this evidence.

Selkirk got off to the best possible starts with a David Cassidy penalty in three minutes. But the visitors were level after Neil Rodger was driven over. From then on, Muir took control. Greig Scott scored a second try and although Cassidy notched a brace of penalties, Jamie Doubleday added two tries thereafter, with Ross Samson and Stevie Wilson completing the rout. Cassidy added another penalty in vain.
